Promemoria presents the Capsule Collection “Botanica e la Notte*” born from the collaboration with Sergio Perrero.
“Botanica e la Notte” (Botany and the Night) is a capsule collection born from a casual meeting between Romeo Sozzi and Sergio Perrero, a true artist of fabrics.
The name is inspired by the drawings in botanic museums; small and perfectly elliptical leaves like the Ficus, large fringed leaves like from the banana tree, fan shaped leaves typical of the Ginkgo.
“Last year” explains Romeo Sozzi “we presented our new collection of fabrics, a big job which lasted several years. We decided not to include some of them in the catalogue and this left us with a considerable meters of fabrics. We decided to entrust these fabrics to Sergio, who re-worked them and transformed them into unique pieces”, continues Romeo Sozzi.
“The original collection”, explains Sergio, “was the stimulus for an aesthetic and ethical research which began from the existing, so that the excellence of these silks, linens, velvets and wools were not lost but rather transformed into something new in line with the fabric research conducted by the company”.
Various manufacturing techniques are used to create these unique fabrics, including overlapping, matching and sewing with cashmere threads that reveal botanic themed designs and various processes that make the fabrics softer and more pleasant to the touch.
The project is in its infant stages, and what was presented in Paris, just an anteprima.
Together with Promemoria, Sergio Perrero is continuing research into new ways of working fabrics, innovative, ground-breaking ways to create unique pieces.
